We've been wanting to make Rosé for some time. In 2014 we were lucky enough to acquire a small amount of Pinot Noir from the well known Sangiacomo Family Vineyard in Carneros. What we finished making was simply delicious. Drinking beautifully now, this will continue to develop in the coming months. Time to stock up for summer!
Tasting Notes
Light pink in color, with watermelon, cranberry, orange rind, and fresh springs flower aromas on the nose. The palate is loaded with peach, strawberry, and melon flavors, with an intriguing note of fresh basil and pomegranate sneaking through. Though packed with fruit, our Rosé finishes dry, with bright acidity and just a hint of tannin from the small period of contact with the grape skins.
Vineyard
The Sangiacomo Family is known for with high-end Pinot Noir in Sonoma County, and many wineries throughout the county, state source their fruit to make exceptional wines. We have always been impressed by the Los Carneros climate just South of town of Sonoma. So we were thrilled when a block became available in 2014 and we were able to add this stunning grower to our portfolio.
Winemaking
Our 2014 Rosé of Pinot Noir is composed of 100% Pommard Pinot Noir from Sangiacomo Vineyard. We chose a Saignée method to capture the essence of the Pinot Noir and fermented in neutral barrels allowing the fruit to fully express its character.
