Tasting Notes
The 2013 Cosa Obra Sonoma County Pinot Noir is sourced from vineyards located in the Russian River Valley and Los Carneros regions. Loaded with aromas of dark cherry, plum and vanilla, the palate reveals fine tannins framing dense flavors of  Bing cherry and tobacco, all providing the generous mouthful of a rich, complex Pinot Noir.  This wine comes alive with nice layering, finishing with delightful notes of cranberry and spice.

Vintage
Once again Mother Nature smiled upon the 2013 California wine harvest. Another season with a bountiful crop of amazing quality. The yields were up a bit for us, and a warm growing season made for even ripening. No heat spikes, rain or cold weather allowed the berries to develop intense varietal flavors. We experienced nice deep colors and supple tannins across the board. Our 2013 Sonoma County Pinot Noir is superb.

Vineyards
The fruit was sourced from many of the best blocks of Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley and Carneros. Yields were maintained at lower levels for increased quality, ranging from 2.5 to 4 tons/acre.

Winemaking
Grapes were picked in the darkness of the early morning hours, and immediately subjected to rigorous hand sorting and refinement process. The whole berries were gently delivered to tank. Cold soaks lasted five to seven days, and fermentations were managed via a combination of delestage and pumpovers. Extended maceration ranging from three to four weeks fine-tuned our tannin profiles, allowing us to perfect mouth feel and wine complexity. The wine was aged 12 months in 100% French oak, 30% of which was new.
